Lilliana | Seattle Child Photographer

Lilliana and my son attended the same preschool before Lilliana left this past fall for kindergarten.  The year has flown by and Lilliana is now six AND a kindergarten graduate!  Sarah and Lilliana have had their fair share of personal loss and this was their first family photo session with just the two of them. Originally, Sarah only wanted photos of her daughter but I encouraged her to come to the session and get in the photos.  I hate having my photo taken (so I really get it) but I am trying very hard to be better at that for my son’s sake.  I hope you’re glad you came Sarah!

Lilliana is a spitfire and loves having her photo taken!  She kept us both laughing and kept everyone in the moment- which is exactly what photos are for.  To capture the moment. I am honored Sarah allowed me to capture this blip in time for them!

Graduation Day | Seattle Senior Photgraphy

There are some things you swear you will never say when you grow up- like I have known you since you were this high.  But I have known Jaemi since she was this high (insert hand at about waste high) and I really coudn’t be more proud of who she is and who she is becoming.  These photos were taken the evening of her high school graduation and thankfully the rain never showed up. Look out Oregon State- a new gal is coming to town. Now go take the world by the bull horns Jaemi!  Be kind along the way.  Keep being real.  Smile often. Laugh unapologetically. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Listen to your inner voice-it ALWAYS knows best!  And remember everyone has a story and until you know their story, try not to judge.  I am 42 and still working on that one but wish I had understood it much sooner in life. Love you Jaemi!!!

field of flowers

We had the most glorious sunny day the other day and I have been drooling over this random field of dandelions I drive past daily and decided to pack up the kids for an impromptu photo session. The very next day this field was mowed so I am feeling really lucky we got these when we did.  Sennet and I stopped by this field one afternoon about six months ago and you can see those images here and apparently he loves his coyote shirt-oops.

holiday photo “booth” | Seattle Child Photographer

We had a few of our friends over for a holiday themed play date and photo session for the kids.  I kept seeing cute ideas on pinterest (damn you) for  holiday photos with simple (and sometimes super elaborate) backdrops and thought “I can do that!”…  So I put together a few items trying to spend no more than $40. I was surprised that I was able to get 2 different backdrops for less than $40.  We had the holiday lights already as well as the white shower curtain and rolling wardrobe that those are clipped on. I bought 2 metallic door “fringe” from amazon for $4 each and round (silver) hanging decor also from amazon for $7.  Now that I have seen that, I would totally make those next time since a glue gun and clear string are really all you need in addition to the metallic paper.  I thought it might be nice to have 2 different back grounds so I went to the local fabric store and bought 2.5 yards of red and white upholstery fabric- which is wider than normal bolts of fabric.  That was not quite $20.  With just a little thought and a bit of leg work, voila- my first even holiday photo booth!

After the kids cooperated (more or less) we also ate sandwiches (on white bread- yum) and the kids decorated mini-gingerbread houses and painted ornaments.  Successful playdate/photosession.
